Aligner therapy was once thought of as only for adults requiring minor orthodontic corrections. Disadvantages: limited application (can not be used to resolve every orthodontic problem, can not be used on patients a with history of TMJ Dysfunction, and can not be used with children and adolescents), cost (average cost is generally 10-15% higher than conventional braces).
Clear aligner therapy generally requires roughly the same amount of treatment time as conventional braces. Aligner therapy is the most popular treatment option for treating orthodontic relapse ( re-straightening teeth that were once straightened but not properly retained).
