Clear Correct is one of two major clear aligner companies providing aligner therapy for patients who require movement of not only anterior teeth, but posterior teeth as well. There are multiple clear aligner companies for patients that require only movement of anterior teeth. Just as it would not be appropriate to try and resolve every orthodontic case with clear aligner therapy alone, it is not appropriate (mostly because of excessive cost to the patient) to attempt to resolve every clear aligner case with the same clear aligner company.
Aligner therapy was once thought of as only for adults requiring minor orthodontic corrections. Now aligner therapy is commonly used to treat both teenagers and adults with minor orthodontic corrections as well as more complex cases. Often clear aligners will be used in phased orthodontic treatment to finish a complex case.
The aligners are clear, comfortable and removable. They are removed while eating and drinking and also while brushing and flossing. Aligners are changed every three weeks while teeth are comfortably moved into proper alignment.
Advantages of clear aligner orthodontics vs. conventional brackets and wires: aesthetics (clear aligners are virtually invisible), comfort (no bulky brackets and wires), more hygienic (easier to brush and floss, aligners are not worn while eating; therefore, there is no trapping food in brackets and wires), convenience (fewer trips to the dentist for follow-up care). Disadvantages: limited application (can not be used to resolve every orthodontic problem, can not be used on patients a with history of TMJ Dysfunction, and can not be used with children and adolescents), cost (average cost is generally 10-15% higher than conventional braces).
Clear aligner therapy generally requires roughly the same amount of treatment time as conventional braces. Aligner therapy is the most popular treatment option for treating orthodontic relapse ( re-straightening teeth that were once straightened but not properly retained).
